📅 Join the EAC's new project: Stirring Food Memories!

7 May 2025

The EAC is excited to announce a new digital collection project: Stirring Food Memories: Recipes and Stories from Lives Abroad.

What sparks your memory of food?
The scent of spices from a familiar kitchen.
A dish you learned to make when you moved across the world.
A fusion of cultures shared at the dinner table with new friends.

Stirring Food Memories: Recipes and Stories from Lives Abroad brings together recipes and food-related stories from people who live or have lived abroad, blending flavour and nostalgia into a rich, archival collection. Each contribution preserves not only the flavours of a meal but also the memories surrounding it — a tribute to how food connects us to places, people, and moments we carry with us.

Who can participate?
We invite expatriates* to submit their stories about the food that reminds them of home and their time living abroad.
(*The EAC defines an expatriate as someone living temporarily in a country other than their home country.)

What can you submit?
- short personal story of a food memory that relates to your experience when living abroad;
- recipe (optional, but encouraged) with measurements and instructions of the dish you discuss in your food memory. Please share your own recipe or credit the original source if adapted;
- photo of the dish or an image associated with the memory (optional).

Please note that all submissions should be in English.
Your submission will become part of the EAC collection and may be featured in the EAC publications, social media, website, or newsletter.

Submit your story!
