One of the key challenges that many private archives in the Netherlands deal with is their position as opposed to governmental archives. In particular, the way in which they manage the data protection of depositors during the digitization process of the archive.
The depositors of source material must trust the archive to look after their stories and not breach the confidence that they have given.
The digitization challenges were discussed during the KVAN day last June.(Koninklijke Vereniging van Archivarissen in Nederland)
